ALBANY, N.Y. – A third quarter surge helped the Skidmore College women's basketball team win on the road with a 70-66 victory over the Sage College Wednesday night.
The Thoroughbreds improve to 2-2 on the season while the Gators drop to 2-2.
Jessica Centore led the Thoroughbreds in scoring with a career-high 23 points alongside three steals. Centore was also a leader on the boards, pulling down six rebounds.
Kate McCarney scored in the double digits to help add to the victory, tallying 19 points and two steals.
Toyin Koleoso also had a big night, pulling down a career and season high of 16 rebounds. Koleoso tallied 13 of her rebounds in the second half to help the Thoroughbreds win their second straight.
The Gators were led by Megan Flynn and Gessica Patregnani who both scored 19 points. Sammy Pasinella added an additional 10 points alongside five assists. Flynn also dominated on the boards for the Gators leading the team with 12 rebounds.
Sage led throughout thefirst half, outscoring the Thoroughbreds 36-32. The Thoroughbreds didn't take long to turn the tide, holding the Gators to only 11 points in the third quarter while adding 21 points to the board. Despite a close fourth quarter, the Thoroughbreds were able to hold on to secure the 70-66 victory over the Gators.
Skidmore is back at home Saturday at 2 pm as they take on Middlebury College at the Williamson Sports Center.
