SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team ended the season in grand style with a five-set (22-25, 25-10, 23-25, 25-21, 15-10) win over New Paltz in the final of the Skidmore Invitational Tournament.
The Thoroughbreds had a 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-15) win over Potsdam to open the day. The 3-0 tournament sweep equals a 15-10 final record for Skidmore.
Katy Ehnstrom earned MVP honors in her final collegiate match.
Zoe Beals and
Lauren Wolters also picked up all-tournament honors.
Ehnstrom had nine kills, two assists and four blocks against Potsdam and 19 kills, eight blocks in the New Paltz win. Beals had nine kills vs. Potsdam and 10 kills against New Paltz. Wolters totaled 22 assists and six digs in the New Paltz win and 16 assists, four aces, and nine digs against Potsdam.
The game marked the end of collegiate competition for seniors
Katy Ehnstrom,
Lauren Wolters, and
Sophia Hettler. The trio was honored in a pre-match ceremony before Saturday's completion.
