CORTLAND, N.Y.— Skidmore goalie
Brandon Kasel opened his senior season with 24 saves in a 2-1 road win over SUNY Cortland Saturday night.
The Thoroughbreds are 1-0, while Cortland drops to 0-2.
Playing 23 miles from his hometown of Ithaca, Kasel had 10 of his 24 saves in the third period to preserve the win.
Matt Muzyka put Skidmore in front 1-0 at 6:29 of the first period from
Austin Rook and
John Litscher. The Red Dragons tied it in the second.
The winner came on a third-period power play.
Matt Wolf scored from
Brandon Borges and
Reid Russell at 6:13.
Cortland had a 25-18 shot advantage.
The Thoroughbreds get league play underway Nov. 8 at home against Suffolk in a 7 p.m. contest.
