ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team came out strong in the first quarter, but couldn't contain the Baldwin Wallace in a 77-63 loss at the Chuck Resler Invitational Tournament Friday night.

The Thoroughbreds drop to 0-2 while the Yellow Jackets start the season off 1-0.

Sophomore guard
Kate McCarney led the team in scoring with 21 points. She finished 8-13 from the field, 3-5 outside the arc, and 2-4 on the foul line. Sophomore forward
Clare Driscoll followed closely behind finishing with 12 points on the afternoon. No other Thoroughbred scored more than seven points despite shooting 52.3% from the floor.
Toyin Koleoso added seven points to the scoreboard, but led the team with eight rebounds on the afternoon. Freshman
Maddie Hastings helped to protect the paint with an additional five rebounds.

Baldwin Wallace's Riley Schill tallied 18 points after an impressive two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Megan Hensel finished off the afternoon with 13 points and four rebounds. Lilly Edwards added an additional 11 points alongside four rebounds.

Skidmore came out hot in the first quarter leading Baldwin Wallace 21-16 and shooting 64% from the field. The Thoroughbreds also shot 50% from beyond the arc.

Ultimately, fouls and turnovers helped the Yellow Jackets to secure the 77-63 victory over the Thoroughbreds. The Yellow Jackets finished with 16 steals on the night, giving them 26 points off of turnovers.

The Thoroughbreds will compete for third place in the Chuck Resler Invitational Tournament this Saturday against the Rochester-Houghton loser at 1 p.m.
