Verona, N.Y.—The Skidmore College golf team finished fourth in the Liberty League Fall Preview played Oct. 5-6 on the par-72 Shenendoah Golf Club at Turning Stone.
The Thoroughbreds shaved 24 strokes off their first day score to move up to places with 325-301—626. NYU (302-295—597) was first, two strokes ahead of Rensselaer (299-300—599). Rochester was third (306-299—605, St. Lawrence fifth (323-310—633), Clarkson sixth (316-327—643) and
Hobart was seventh (329-335—664).
Skidmore freshman Will Tone, playing as an independent, finished third with 74-74—148. He was only one stroke off co-winners Robbie Keyes (78-69—147) and Alen Chen (74-73—147) of NYU.
Gabriel Rossi was the team's top finisher. Rossi eagled his final hole to finish with a 3-over 75 for a 77-75—152 total to tie for 10
th.
Sean Hurley tied for 13
th (79-75—154).
Mark DeCourcey (85-75—160) and
Colin Cusa (84-76—160) tied for 25
th and
Jack Walsh tied for 37
th with 86-84—170.
Skidmore will close out the fall by hosting the Saratoga National Invitational Oct. 12-13.
