SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.--
Stanley Langyintuo scored the lone goal of the game off a penalty kick to give Skidmore the win in a Friday Liberty League match up against RIT.
Â
Skidmore moves to 6-4-3, 2-3-1 in the conference, while RIT drops to 4-7-1, 2-3 in the league.
Â
Langyintuo was awarded a penalty kick after a collision with an RIT player right in the arc. He lined up faked right, causing Tiger goalie Spencer Raymond-Smith to dive, and ultimately drilled it into the left corner to score his 10th goal of the season in the 20
th minute.
Â
RIT had multiple close calls to tie the game, as an RIT shot off a direct kick caused Skidmore goalie
Sebastian Bosch to leap into the air to deflect the ball to the upper right corner with only 46.5 seconds remaining in the first half.
Â
RIT came out strong in the second half but ultimately could not get past the Skidmore defense. With just under two minutes remaining in the game, Simon Olsen rocketed the ball towards the net off of a corner, but was blocked by a Skidmore defender. Simon Garno picked up the rebound off the blocked shot, quickly shooting it and causing Bosch to make diving save to the lower left corner.
Â
Bosch finished the night with six saves, shutting out the Tigers, while Raymond-Smith finished with two. Despite being outnumbered in shots and corners, Skidmore tallied the only goal of the night to clinch another Liberty League victory.
Â
The physical contest saw the teams combine for 29 fouls, seven yellow, and two red cards.
Â
Skidmore returns to action tomorrow, October 19
th at 2pm, for its Senior Game against Liberty League opponent Ithaca.
