ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's tennis team continued its winning ways against Liberty League competition, sweeping Bard 9-0 at the Stevenson Tennis Courts Sunday afternoon.
Skidmore wins its second straight league match to begin the season (2-0, 2-0 Liberty League) and has won its 22
nd consecutive match against Liberty League opponents. Bard falls to 4-2 overall and 0-2 in league action.
The Thoroughbreds, exclusively playing its six freshmen, dropped just seven points in the entire match. The duos of
Dea Koiava and
Lily Feldman and
Sharon Decarli and
Arielle Gal won their doubles matches by matching 8-1 scores at the first and third slot, respectively. At second doubles,
Audrey SooHoo and
Sofia Carlsson swept Harper Zacharias and Jamie-Rose Graham 8-0.
In singles, SooHoo and Decarli were dominant, sweeping their opponents at three and six, respectively. Koiava defeated Katie Esposito at the top spot, 6-0, 6-1. Feldman defeated Katri Shields at No. 2, 6-1, 6-0, while Carlsson defeated Rose-Graham by an identical 6-1, 6-0 score at No. 4. Gal completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Eva Grunblatt at No. 5.
Skidmore will prepare for its annual trip to Bowdoin for its next match, taking part in the Bowdoin Invitational on Oct. 12-13.
