POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—Skidmore College fell on the road 3-1 to Vassar College in Liberty League field hockey play Saturday afternoon.
The loss leaves the Thoroughbreds at 3-5 overall and 0-2 in league play. The Brewers are 9-1 and 2-0.
Down 2-0 late in the second half, Skidmore pulled within one when
Meaghan Lynch started and finished a penalty corner at 61:57. Lynch sent the ball in to
Mariah Redler who got it back to Lynch for her first goal of the season. The Brewers scored a breakaway goal :29 seconds later for the 3-1 final margin.
Vassar outshot Skidmore 14-6 and had a 7-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Elizabeth Coughlin had four saves in 65:02 for the Thoroughbreds, while
Madeleine Carre stopped two shots over the final 4:58.
Skidmore will host Williams next on Oct. 2 at 4 p.m.
