POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—The Skidmore College baseball team lost a pair of one-run Liberty League games, 2-1 and 7-6 Saturday at Vassar College.

The Thoroughbreds are 9-10 overall and 4-6 in league play, while the Brewers are 8-6 and 5-1. The teams will complete the series at Skidmore on Sunday at 12 p.m.

In the first game,
Spencer Anderson had a four-hitter for Skidmore, allowing two runs with five strikeouts and one walk over six innings.

The Thoroughbreds trailed 2-0 heading into the seventh. With runners on first and second and two outs,
Nate Scheinman worked an 0-2 count into a seven-pitch full count, before drilling one up the middle to cut it to 2-1. Vassar reliever James Madsen came in to get the final out and save.

Scheinman had two of Skidmore's five hits, going 2-3. Mike Fogerty was 1-3 with a double.

In the second game, the Thoroughbreds went up 2-0 in the second on RBI singles by
Will Potter and Fogerty. Vassar responded with four runs in its half of the inning.

The Brewers extended the lead to 6-2 before
Hayden Smith was hit with a pitch with the bases loaded to cut it to 6-3. A solo home run in the bottom of the six put Vassar up 7-3. Skidmore battled back with three in the eighth, but Vassar hung on for the 7-6 win.

Shawn Klier was 4-5 with two runs, two doubles and an RBI and
Jake Hardy went 3-5 with a double and RBI. Fogarty and Potter were both 2-5.

Jay Gamboa took the loss, while
Sam Beck had 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.
