WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – An early scoring run by Williams lifted it past the Skidmore College women's lacrosse team, who suffered a 14-5 loss in non-conference action at Farley-Lamb Field Sunday afternoon.
Skidmore's (9-5) win streak snaps at four, and it will look forward to finishing the Liberty League schedule with two of the last three games at home, beginning with Clarkson next Friday. Williams (6-7) will host Bowdoin next Saturday.
Natalie LaBeau and
Shelby Boland each tallied a pair of goals to lead the Thoroughbreds.
Emily Hirsch also scored.
Lilla Seymour added an assist.
Gianna Muscari and
Grace Connerty each tallied a team-high three ground balls.
Caroline Kenlon made one save in 16:24.
Nicki Eckert made five saves in relief.
Kara Wollmers tallied four goals to lead the Ephs. Olivia Polk and Emma Tenbarge each scored hat-tricks. Kami Cisneros made a pair of saves in the victory.
Williams would score the first six goals of the game, before LaBeau got Skidmore on the board with her goal at 11:19. The Ephs would tally three more to take a 9-1 lead into halftime, then began the second half with a pair of goals, stretching the lead to 11-1. Boland would score two straight goals in 1:35, cutting into the deficit. Williams would tally three more goals to bring the lead to double digits (14-3), before Skidmore ended the scoring with goals by Hirsch and LaBeau.
Williams took a 20-13 advantage in shots on goal. The Ephs also caused 14 of Skidmore's 25 turnovers.
Skidmore will take on Clarkson on Wachenheim Field at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 20.
