AMSTERDAM, N.Y.—The Skidmore College baseball team scored four runs in the ninth to beat Union College 10-7 and earn a Liberty League split after dropping the first game 6-3. The win snapped an eight game Dutchmen win streak.

The Thoroughbreds are 11-12 overall and 6-8 in league play, while Union is 15-5 and 7-3. The teams close out the series at Castle Diamond on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.

In a wild second game, Skidmore blew a 6-0 lead, allowing five in the seventh and two in the eighth to trail 7-6 going into the ninth. Not quitting, the Thoroughbreds scored four in the ninth behind an RBI triple from
Nate Scheinman and a two-run double from
Jake Hardy.
Andrew Aikins shook off his first earned runs of the season in the eighth inning to pitch a scoreless ninth, striking out two to remain perfect with a 3-0 record.

Hardy was 2-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBI.
Will Potter was 2-3 with three runs and
Shawn Klier went 2-6 with two doubles and three RBI.
Ryan Strickland was 2-5 with a run.
Jay Gamboa tossed the first 6.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

In the first game, Union got to Skidmore early, building a 5-0 lead after four innings. The Thoroughbreds got back in it with three runs in the fifth, keyed by an RBI double off the bat of Potter. The Dutchmen plated an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth and kept Skidmore off the board for the 6-3 final.

Klier was 2-3 with a run for Skidmore. Shane Anderson (0-3) took the loss. He went 3.2 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.
Jacob Berish allowed one run in relief. He gave up two hits and struck out three in 2.1 innings.
