Balanced Attack in 20-4 Liberty League win

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team had 15 players contribute goals in a 20-4 Liberty League win over Bard College Saturday at Wachenheim Field.
 
The Thoroughbreds even their Liberty League record at 2-2 and are 6-4 overall. The Raptors fall to 2-4 and 0-3.  Skidmore hosts Rensselaer in a league contest April 3 at 7 p.m. Bard is home on April 6 at 4 p.m. against Rochester.
 
Marisa Caponi led the Thoroughbreds with three goals on four shots. Sophia Hagstromer, Vivian Foley, and Lilla Seymour had two goals each. Louisa Vincent had a goal and two assists. Emily Hirsch had a goal, three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Amanda Cagnassola added three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Natalie LaBeau had a goal, assist, and three draw controls and Cas Szwajkowski had a goal and five draws.
 
Starter Caroline Kenlon improved to 6-4, stopping both shots she faced in the first 25:11. Nicki Eckert stopped seven of 11 shots over the final 34:49.
 
Dylan McDonald scored twice for the Raptors and had four draw controls. Melissa Rosenthal had a goal, two ground balls and game-high six draws. Kaylynn Tran had 11 saves.
 
Skidmore controlled the game from the start, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first 4:41 on a pair of goals by Caponi and Hirsch's 29th goal of the season. The Thoroughbreds extended the lead to 11-0 at the break with two goals in the final minute. Seymour scored her second of the game with :52 left and Gianna Muscari capped the half scoring at :40.
 
Hagstromer kept it going in the second half with goals at 29:32 and 27:59 to open the lead to 13-0. Skidmore scored the next three to make it 16-0.  Casey Witte broke through for Bard at 17:46, followed by Foley's second of the game at 13:57. The Raptors ran off three straight led by a pair from McDonald, before Skidmore closed the game with three more for the 20-4 final.
 
The Thoroughbreds had a 40-15 shot advantage and forced 17 Bard turnovers.
