ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Skidmore College baseball team beat Bard 8-4 in the second game of a doubleheader to win the weekend Liberty League series 3-1. The Thoroughbreds dropped the first game 6-3.
 
Skidmore is 9-8 overall and 4-4 in Liberty League play. The Raptors are 7-10 and 1-3. The improved Thoroughbred squad has already equaled last season's league win mark with 16 conference games to play.
 
In the first game, Bard went up 5-0 after two innings. Skidmore got one back in the fourth on 
Jake Hardy's RBI single. The Raptors executed a double steal in their half of the fourth to go up 6-1. The Thoroughbreds added a pair in the seventh for the 6-3 final. A patient Sean Klier drew a nine-pitch bases loaded walk and Hardy had a sacrifice fly.
 
Hayden Smith was 2-2 with two runs, while Hardy was 1-2 with two RBI. 
Justin LaRose went 2-4. 
Spencer Meyer (0-2) was tagged with the loss. 
Sam Beck finished the game, allowing one run on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts over 4.1 innings.
 
Skidmore jumped in front early in the second game, scoring four in the second and one in the third to lead 5-0. Bard added single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh to get close, 5-3. The Thoroughbreds closed the door with a pair in the eighth and one in the ninth.
 
Pat Geiger was 4-4 with two runs, an RBI and a double. 
Justin LaRose was 1-3 with a two-run triple in the eighth. 
Jay Gamboa (2-1) got the win. He went five, allowing one run on thee hits with a walk and two strikeouts. 
Andrew Aikins earned eight-out save. He allowed an unearned run on two hits and two walks. He struck out three.
 
Skidmore will host New Paltz in a non-league game on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
