SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College hockey team closes out its home schedule this weekend with a pair of New England Hockey Conference games.
The Thoroughbreds host #12 UMASS-Boston on Friday at 7 p.m. as part of
Hockey Night in Saratoga. The team will honor its seniors prior to Saturday's game against Babson College at 4 p.m. There is no admission charge and a free bus will run from Case Center at 6:30 Friday and 3:30 on Saturday.
Skidmore (4-16-1, 2-11-1 NEHC) is looking to ride the momentum of last weekend's league sweep of Southern Maine and New England College into the final four regular season games and the upcoming NEHC playoffs.
Rookie forward Brandon Borgas leads the team in scoring with six goals and eight assists for 14 points. Classmates

Paul Vella (1-8—9) are next.

Brandon Kasel continues his steady play in net with a 3.32 GAA and .905 save percentage in 19 starts.
This will be the third game of the season against both UMB and Babson. The Beacons have 5-2 and 7-1 wins, while the Beavers downed the Thoroughbreds 4-1 and 4-0.
UMB (14-7, 9-5) is 1-3 over its last four games. The league's top three scorers lead the Beacons. Colin Larkin (19-17—36), Zack Bross (6-26-32), and Nolan Redler (17-12—29) lead a high-powered offense that is averaging a league-high 4.76 goals per game. Goalie Bailey MacBurnie is 13-5 with a 2.42 GAA and .912 save%.
Babson (11-8-2, 9-4-1) is 2-3 over its last five games. Matt McMorrow (5-13—18) and Ryan Gouveia (10-7—17) top the team in scoring. Matt Pompa has an 8-7-2 record with a 2.10 GAA and .929 save%.
Skidmore heads to Vermont to wrap the regular season Feb. 9 at Castleton and Feb. 10 at Norwich. The NEHC quarterfinals are Feb. 17 at the highest four seeds.
