MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Despite a career scoring effort from junior guard
Jessica Centore, the Skidmore College women's basketball team was unable to keep up with host Middlebury, falling by a 71-45 score in non-conference action at Pepin Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
Skidmore falls to 2-7 overall, having played its last non-conference game of the regular season. Middlebury remains undefeated at 8-0.
After scoring a career-high 15 points in last Saturday's victory at Clarkson, Centore topped it this Saturday, tallying 18 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the field. She also filled the stat sheet with four steals, four rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots. Sophomore guard

Catherine Harrison led Middlebury with 16 points and nine rebounds.
After falling behind early (11-2) in the first half, the Thoroughbreds went on a 14-6 run. A Centore jumper capped the run, as Skidmore whittled the deficit down to 17-16. Middlebury's Alex Huffman would score with 36 seconds left in the opening quarter, as the Panthers led by a 19-16 score.
Middlebury would open things up with a 20-6 second quarter. Up 21-20 early in the period, the Panthers went on an 11-0 run, bringing the lead to double-digits. Middlebury closed the half with seven unanswered points, taking a 39-22 lead into halftime. The lead would eventually stretch to as many as 29 points in the fourth quarter, before settling to a 71-45 final score.
Skidmore will return to the Williamson Sports Center for its final home game of the fall semester on Wednesday, hosting Liberty League foe Vassar at 5 p.m.
