SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— Sage College erased a 14-point third quarter deficit then went on to a 69-68 win over Skidmore College in non-league women's basketball Tuesday evening at the Williamson Center.

The Thoroughbreds are 2-6, while the Gators move to 4-2.

Haley English led four Skidmore players in double figures with 14 points, six assists, six rebounds and a steal.
Taylor Ong and
Sydney Tsutsui had 13 each, while
Kate McCarney added 11.

Megan Flynn hit a game-high 21 points for Sage, despite game-long foul trouble. Emily Parslow chipped in 17 points and Emily Pike had a double/double off the bench with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Skidmore never trailed in the first half, dodging early foul trouble to open a 20-15 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Thoroughbreds settled in during the second, extending the lead to 35-23 behind a defense that caused Sage to struggle from the floor, hitting three of 17 (17.6%) attempts in the stanza.

The Gators turned it around in the third quarter, using a 15-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 43-42 with 3:48 left in the third. The Thoroughbreds regained the lead, 44-43 at 2:56 on a
Mary Kate Palleschi jumper. Skidmore finished the quarter up 51-48.

The Thoroughbreds maintained the lead until Parslow hit a three for a 64-63 lead with 1:29 to play. Parslow made three of four free throws in the final 18 seconds left to increase the margin to 69-65. Â Tsutsui hit a three for Skidmore with 0.5 seconds left for the 69-68 final.

Sage scored 25 second chance points and had 24 points off turnovers.

The Thoroughbreds were 26-57 (45.6%) from the floor, including 6-15 (40%) from three-point range and 10-20 (50%) from the free throw line. The Gators shot 26-66 (39.4%), 4-18 (22.2%) from beyond the arc and 13-20 (65%) from the line.

Skidmore travels to Middlebury College on Dec. 8 for a 2 p.m. game. Sage hosts Westfield State on Dec. 8 at 1 p.m.
