MEDFORD, Mass.—The Skidmore College women's basketball team ran into a buzz saw Tuesday night in the form of #6 Tufts University. The Jumbos came away with a 78-41 win.

The young Thoroughbred squad is 1-4, while Tufts is 3-0.

Haley English led Skidmore with 17 points, shooting 6-12 from the floor.
Jessica Centore added eight points and three steals.

The Jumbos had three players in double figures. Jac Knapp (13), Cailin Harrington (10) and Janette Wadolowski (10) led the balanced offense.

Skidmore hung tough at the start with an 8-7 lead halfway through the first quarter. Tufts responded with a 10-2 run to lead 17-10 after one. The Jumbos broke it open in the second quarter thanks to hot shooting from the floor (17-29, .586) to go up 48-18 at the half.

After being outscored 15-8 in the third quarter, Skidmore played the fourth quarter even (15-15) for the 78-41 final.

The Thoroughbreds have 10 days off before opening Liberty League play Nov. 20 at St. Lawrence at 5 p.m.
