SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College hockey team dropped a 5-1 nonleague game to Buffalo State Saturday night at the Saratoga Springs City Rink.
The Thoroughbreds are 1-2-1, while the Bengals move to 2-2-1.
A special pregame ceremony recognized Skidmore seniors
Corey Morgan,
Adam Moodie, and
Max Hegge and included a special honor for classmate Will Golden who tragically passed away in 2016. Will's dad Shaun joined the seniors on ice and Morgan wore Will's jersey for the game.
Buff State struck early when Colin O'Conner shot caught the top of the net at 1:58 from Hugo Petit and Mac Wood.
The lone second period goal came at 4:55 on a power play tally by Sam Maddox for a 2-0 lead.
The Bengals scored three straight in the third period to put the game away. Andre Logar, Michael Anthony Guerrera, and Zach Remers scored.
Skidmore's
Matt Wolf scored his first goal of the season when he forced a shot past Bengal goalie Connor Minch at 13:49 of the third. Kyle Del Maestro and
Owen Campbell assisted.
The Thoroughbreds outshot Buffalo 40-27.
Brandon Kasel had 22 saves for Skidmore, while Minch finished with 39 saves.
Skidmore returns to NEHC play with a home game Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. vs. New England College.
