Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Skidmore earns third straight shutout in victory at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. –  For the third consecutive game, one goal was all the Skidmore College women's soccer team needed, as it topped Vassar in a 1-0 triumph in Liberty League action at Gordon Field Saturday afternoon.

Skidmore (6-3, 3-1 Liberty League) wins its third straight contest in Liberty League play, moving into a tie with Ithaca for second place. Vassar (6-4-1, 2-2 Liberty League) moves into a tie for fourth place.

Sophomore Molly Kosh proved to be the heroine in this contest, perfectly playing a Yasmine Boukari cross in the 43rd minute, slotting the shot above the goalie into the top right of the net.

Skidmore then turned to the defense, bending but not breaking from a furious Vassar attack. The Brewers would outshoot the Thoroughbreds 10-2 over the final 45 minutes, but stellar defensive play, backed up by solid goalkeeping by freshman Ava Keller, preserved the victory. Keller would make six saves to earn her third consecutive shutout.

Vassar outshot the Thoroughbreds 17-9 in the contest, but both teams took six shots on target.

The Thoroughbreds return home for the next matchup, taking on Ithaca in what will be a battle for second place in the league standings. The Friday contest will take place at 4 p.m.
