Knights extinguish Thoroughbred playoff hopes

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team lost its Liberty League final 3-1 (18-25, 25-9, 28-26, 25-18) at Clarkson University on Saturday.

The loss leaves the Thoroughbreds (17-10, 3-4 Liberty) out of the Liberty League Tournament. Clarkson (13-9, 4-3) clinches a spot with the win.

Katy Ehnstrom led Skidmore with 16 kills and three blocks. Caite Canfield added 19 digs, two aces, six kills and two blocks. Lauren Wolters (16) and Lily Fitzgerald (14) combined for 30 assists, while Sophia Hettler had 23 digs and four kills. Allie Dillon contributed 23 digs and an ace.

The Thoroughbreds will close out the season at home Oct. 26-27 with the Skidmore Invitational. On Oct. 26, Skidmore faces Lasell at 4 p.m. and Potsdam at 8 p.m. On the 27th, it will be Morrisville at 10 a.m. and New Paltz at 2 p.m.
