ITHACA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's soccer team fell short at Ithaca by a 2-0 margin, in Liberty League action at Carp Wood Field Friday afternoon.
 
Skidmore (6-3-3, 2-2-1 Liberty League) falls to a fifth-place tie in the congested Liberty League standings with seven points. Ithaca (9-1-3, 2-1-2 Liberty League) moves one point ahead in fourth place with eight points.
 
Skidmore came out as the aggressors, with senior Ben Caples opening the contest with a shot that just pulled wide 1:38 into the contest. Three minutes later, the Thoroughbreds would get its first shot on target, as junior Ted Roach tried to get a shot past Ithaca keeper Max Lichtenstein, but to no avail.
 
Ithaca would strike first in the 22^nd minute, thanks to a penalty kick opportunity after the Skidmore foul in the box. Nate Shoen would step up, firing the attempt past junior Sebastian Bosch.
 
Ithaca would double the lead in the 63^rd minute, as Drew Cohn fed Jon Kyriakidis for his third of the season. The Bombers held Skidmore to just one shot on goal and a 21-8 shot margin in the victory.
 
Bosch made six saves for the Thoroughbreds.
 
Skidmore heads further west to Rochester, finishing the weekend with a visit to RIT on Saturday at 2 p.m.
