Skidmore drops 2-0 decision to Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's soccer team fell short at Ithaca by a 2-0 margin, in Liberty League action at Carp Wood Field Friday afternoon.
 
Skidmore (6-3-3, 2-2-1 Liberty League) falls to a fifth-place tie in the congested Liberty League standings with seven points. Ithaca (9-1-3, 2-1-2 Liberty League) moves one point ahead in fourth place with eight points.
 
Skidmore came out as the aggressors, with senior Ben Caples opening the contest with a shot that just pulled wide 1:38 into the contest. Three minutes later, the Thoroughbreds would get its first shot on target, as junior Ted Roach tried to get a shot past Ithaca keeper Max Lichtenstein, but to no avail.
 
Ithaca would strike first in the 22nd minute, thanks to a penalty kick opportunity after the Skidmore foul in the box. Nate Shoen would step up, firing the attempt past junior Sebastian Bosch.
 
Ithaca would double the lead in the 63rd minute, as Drew Cohn fed Jon Kyriakidis for his third of the season. The Bombers held Skidmore to just one shot on goal and a 21-8 shot margin in the victory.
 
Bosch made six saves for the Thoroughbreds.
 
Skidmore heads further west to Rochester, finishing the weekend with a visit to RIT on Saturday at 2 p.m.
