SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team began play Friday night with a pair of tight losses at the Union Invitational. The Thoroughbreds lost 3-2 (25-20, 25-18, 17-25, 22-25, 12-15) to Oneonta and 3-1 (25-14, 27-25, 25-21, 25-21) to Brockport.

Skidmore (3-2) dropped the first two sets against Oneonta, but battled back to tie the match. The Red Dragons led the fifth set 14-9 before he Thoroughbreds scored three straight to pull to within 14-12. Oneonta then clinched the match on a service error.

Bailey Hutchins had 28 assists, 10 digs, eight kills and three blocks.
Caite Canfield had 12 kills and 11 digs, while
Katy Ehnstrom contributed 12 kills and four blocks.
Allie Dillon added a team-high 17 kills.

In the Brockport match, Canfield had 15 digs and 11 kills. Hutchins had 16 assists, eight digs and two blocks, while Dillon had 16 digs.

Skidmore continues play on Saturday with matches against Williams (9 a.m.) and Stevens Tech (11 a.m.).
