SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The 24th ranked Springfield Pride pounded out 27 hits on the way to 12-1 and 11-5 non-league softball wins over Skidmore College Wednesday at Wagner Park.

The games marked the start of eight games in five days for the Thoroughbreds (4-10). Skidmore will host Cazenovia College on Thursday at 3:30.  Springfield (13-1) extended its win streak to eight games.

After a pair of scoreless innings in the first game, the Pride scored four runs in the third on three doubles to take a 4-0 lead. Kristen Drobiak pounded a three-run homer in the fourth to make it 7-0 and five unearned runs in the fifth gave Springfield a 12-0 lead.

Skidmore got one in the fifth when
Karly Fishkin walked and later scored on a two-out double by
Lauren Fortunato for the 12-1 final.

Fortunato, Fishkin and
Kristina Foley had hits for the Thoroughbreds.
Amanda Carilli dropped to 3-4 allowing 12 runs (six earned) on 11 hits and two walks.

Drobiak finished 2-3 with four RBI for Springfield. Pitcher Talia Loda was 3-4 with three runs and an RBI. She improved to 7-0 with four scoreless innings, allowing two hits, one walk and five strikeouts.Â

In the second game, Springfield scored one in the first and the Thoroughbreds responded with two of their own.
Emily Popp and
Mary Farrington had RBI singles for Skidmore.

The Pride retook the lead with three in the second, keyed by Loda's deep two-run homer.

It would stay 4-2 until Springfield sent 12 batters to the played in a six-run fifth to open a 10-2 lead. Skidmore got three back in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run triple by Farrington, who later scored on a delayed steal.

The Pride added one in the sixth for the 11-5 final. The game was called after six innings due to darkness.

Farrington was 2-3 with a run and three RBI. Fishkin and pitcher
Emily Popp were both 2-3. Popp took the loss, allowing 11 runs (nine earned) on 16 hits.

Loda was 3-5 with five RBI and two runs, while Allie Wheeler and Meghan Sastram were 3-4. Shelby Allen got the win in relief, allowing three runs on three hits, with four walks and five strikeouts over three innings.
