HENNIKER, N.H.—New England College scored three third period goals to break open a 2-2 game, taking a 5-2 win over Skidmore College in the New England Hockey Conference opener for both teams.
The Thoroughbreds are 0-2 and 0-1 in NEHC play, while NEC is 2-1 and 1-0.
After spotting New England a 2-0 lead after the first period, Skidmore battled back to tie it in the second period.
Nearly five minutes into the second period Skidmore scored its first goal on a shot by
Mickey Foley.
Matt Bernot and
Max Hegge assisted. Five-and-change later, the Thoroughbreds evened the score at 2-2 with an
Adam Moodie power-play goal from
Tim Allen and Matt Muzyka.
NEC scored early in the third for a 3-2 lead and added an insurance goal at 16:27 and an empty net tally at 18:52.
Brandon Kassel had 22 saves for Skidmore
The Thoroughbreds travel to Southern Main on Saturday.
