Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Thoroughbreds drop key road contest

CANTON, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's soccer team had its playoff hopes dampened after a 1-0 loss at St. Lawrence University.

The Thoroughbreds (5-3-6, 1-2-5 Liberty) need to win their final game against Bard and get help to make the conference tournament.  The Saints (7-5-3, 5-1-2) are still in the hunt for first place.

Both teams traded chances in the first half, with the Skidmore getting a pair of quality looks from Augustine Okoye in the 22nd minute that were both saved by SLU goalie Mike Smith.

The Saints got the game's lone goal in the 36th minute when Ryan Roche fed Jethro Dede who found the lower left corner for the 1-0 advantage.

Kevin Santos nearly tied it in the 78th minute off a Mike Park corner kick, but Smith made the save.

St. Lawrence outshot Skidmore 16-13 and had a 9-4 corner edge.

Sebastian Bosch had four of his five saves in the second half. Smith was also credited with five saves.

The Thoroughbreds close out the regular season at Bard Oct. 28 at 2 p.m.
