CANTON, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's soccer team had its playoff hopes dampened after a 1-0 loss at St. Lawrence University.
Â
The Thoroughbreds (5-3-6, 1-2-5 Liberty) need to win their final game against Bard and get help to make the conference tournament. Â The Saints (7-5-3, 5-1-2) are still in the hunt for first place.
Â
Both teams traded chances in the first half, with the Skidmore getting a pair of quality looks from
Augustine Okoye in the 22nd minute that were both saved by SLU goalie Mike Smith.
Â
The Saints got the game's lone goal in the 36th minute when Ryan Roche fed Jethro Dede who found the lower left corner for the 1-0 advantage.
Â
Kevin Santos nearly tied it in the 78th minute off a
Mike Park corner kick, but Smith made the save.
Â
St. Lawrence outshot Skidmore 16-13 and had a 9-4 corner edge.
Â
Sebastian Bosch had four of his five saves in the second half. Smith was also credited with five saves.
