MAHWAH, N.J. – The Skidmore College women's soccer team exploded offensively, getting in the win column with a resounding 4-1 victory over Ramapo in non-league action at the Athletic Center Wednesday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds improved to 3-8-2 overall on the season, while the Roadrunners fall to 4-10.
The Thoroughbreds opened up the scoring late in the opening half, in the 42nd minute.
Julia Leslie sent a high through ball to a charging
Yasmine Boukari, who fired a point-blank shot that was pushed away by Ramapo goalkeeper Elizabeth Harvell.
Jemimah Cochrane grabbed the rebound and fired in a shot that beat the keeper right, as the Thoroughbreds went into the break with the 1-0 lead.
Skidmore went on the offensive in the second half, starting in the 56
th minute. On the attack,
Emma Basso got a couple of shots in front of net that was saved by the Ramapo goalie.
Courtney Shaw stayed in position, getting the Thoroughbreds' third attempt in net.
In the 70th minute, it was Shaw finding Boukari on the Skidmore attack, as Boukari laced a curled shot that beat the keeper high in the right corner of net. Four minutes later, Boukari struck again for her second of the contest.
Emily Mendes sent a pass to a charging Boukari, who stayed onside, eventually beating the Roadrunners back line. With another one-on-one shot with Harvell, she beat the keeper to her right for her second of the contest.
Ramapo avoided the shutout, getting one of their own in the 77
th minute. Nani Vizcaino fed her sister, Liliann Vizcaino on a pass well outside of the penalty box. Liliann's chance from about 30 yards floated over the head of Skidmore keeper

Skidmore's four goals were a season high, as they outshot Ramapo 29-7. Rollins picked up the win, making six saves, while her counterpart, Harvell, made 15.
The Thoroughbreds return to Saratoga Springs and Wachenheim Field for the final three contests of the regular season. The stretch begins on Saturday as Skidmore hosts St. Lawrence at 3 p.m.
