Elizabeth Coughlin recovered and laid out to knock down a Cortland shoot-out attempt to lead the Thoroughbreds to a 2-1 shoot-out win against Cortland Saturday afternoon at Wagner Park.

It was the fifth straight win for the 13th ranked Thoroughbreds (6-1), while Cortland drops to 5-3.

Miranda Davenport notched her third goal of the season from
Krista Lamoreaux at 19:25 to give Skidmore a 1-0 lead. The Red Dragons tied it three minutes later off corner, when Gabby Stein tipped home a shot from Jessica Welsh at 22:50.

The Thoroughbreds dominated the rest of regulation and overtime, but Cortland goalie Kailynne Reinoehl shut them down. She amassed 18 saves, seven coming in the second overtime.

The shootout was all Coughlin. She got beat once, but forced one shot wide and saved three others.

Tied 1-1 after Cortland's fifth shooter missed, Skidmore's
Kayla Rose faked Reinoehl out and calmly fired into an empty net for the win.

Becca Halter had the other Thoroughbred shoot-out make.

Skidmore had a 29-5 shot and 20-4 corner advantage. Coughlin finished with three saves, not including the three shoot-out saves. Reinoehl had 18 saves, nine in overtime.

The Thoroughbreds travel to Nazareth Sunday.
