Volleyball starts the season 2-0, topping NYU and Plattsburgh

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Skidmore College Volleyball team started off the 2016 campaign in style, going 2-0 at the NYU Labor Day Invitational on Friday afternoon.

The Thoroughbreds topped host NYU 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 14-25, 25-18) in the opener, then pulled away late to defeat Plattsburgh 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 25-17).

Skidmore will finish play in the Big Apple, taking on Rivier College (0-0) and Emerson (1-0) on Sunday.

Against NYU (0-1), Allie Dillon recorded a double-double, tallying 10 kills and 19 digs. Macella Familiar-Bolanos led the way with 23 digs. Brittany Osborn (12) led the way for the Thoroughbreds in kills. Katy Ehnstrom, playing in her first collegiate match, finished with 11 kills.
