Tyler Phillips and
Emma Harris combined to score four goals in a five minute span late in the second half as Skidmore College pulled away for a 16-10 Liberty League women's lacrosse victory over the University of Rochester at Edwin Fauver Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Skidmore finished the Liberty League season at 6-3, 9-7 overall. The Thoroughbreds will be seeded third in the Liberty League tournament and play number two Union College on Friday at William Smith. Game time to be determined. Rochester ended up at 1-8 in the league, 4-12 overall. T
Phillips scored three times – two of the goals were just 1:17 apart – and Harris netted one during the spurt that saw the Thoroughbreds take command of the match.

Rochester battled back from a 9-6 deficit to tie the score twice – first at 9-9 on a counterattack goal by Katherine Woo set up by Jamie Wallisch – and then at 10-10 when Wallisch scored from in close with 12:12 to play.

Phillips broke the tie with 10:39 left and scored again with 9:22 on the clock.
Natalie LaBeau scored from
Marisa Caponi (6:08) and Phillips scored with 5:17 remaining (15-10).
Cas Szwajkowski completed the scoring with 1:54 left.

Phillips led Skidmore with five goals and one assist. Harris had four goals. Szwajkowski scored three times. Caponi had a goal and assist. LaBeau,
Gianna Muscari, and
Allison Byrne each scored one goal.

For Rochester, Wallisch scored three goals and had three assists. Elisabeth Watson scored three goals and added one assist. Madeline Levy netted two goals. Madeline Mulholand and Woo each scored one time. Elizabeth Botto had one assist.

In goal,
Megan Kolopsky made nine saves for Skidmore. Maire Prosak played the first 54:43 in goal for Rochester. She had nine saves. Libby Melnyk played the last 5:17.

Kolopsky made a number of saves early in the match as Rochester tried to feed off the emotion of Senior Day. Her biggest save, though, came near the midpoint of the second half.

Rochester just completed a three-goal run (Wallisch scored the first, then set up Watson and Woo) in less than two minutes to level the score at 9-9 in a span of two minutes. The Yellowjackets won possession near the Skidmore end line with Kolopsky out of goal. Wallisch passed to Olivia Moutevelis just to the left rear of the cage. She tried to cut to the middle and shoot, but Kolopsky raced out and got her stick down to scramble the ball away just before it crossed the line.

Skidmore held a 26-22 edge on ground balls and won 15 draw controls to 12 for Rochester.
Rachel Talanian collected nine ground balls, won six draws, and caused four turnovers. Szwajkowski had five ground balls and won two draws. LaBeau and Phillips each won three draws.

For Rochester, Botto collected four ground balls. Levy and Wallisch won three draws apiece. Watson and Cassie Mahar had two each. Wallisch caused four turnovers.
