Skidmore powers past Clarkson 14-4

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team dominated play from the start on the way to a 14-4 Senior Day Liberty League win over Clarkson University Saturday at Wachenheim Field.

It was the fifth straight win for the Thoroughbreds who improve to 8-6 overall and 5-2 in league play. The Golden Knights drop to 12-3 and 6-2.

Tyler Phillips led a balanced Skidmore attack with four goals, an assist, four ground balls, and three draw controls. Senior Emma Harris and Cas Szwajkowski scored three goals each. Marisa Caponi, Allison Byrne, Emily Schlicht, and senior Tess Mattimore had one goal each. Natalie LaBeau had three assists, while senior Adele Mackey had a ground ball and two draw controls. Rachel Talanian added five ground balls, four caused turnovers and two draws.

Christine Wright scored three times for Clarkson, while Kate Dillon scored a free position as the game ended.

Skidmore came out hard, scoring six times in the game's first 10 minutes. Wright tried to get the Golden Knights back in it with consecutive goals at 18:30 and 16:00 to cut it to 6-2, but Emma Harris stopped the run with a goal with 9:49 to play in the first half.

Wright scored her third of the game at 8:33 to get it to 7-3, but Clarkson had no answer to the Thoroughbred attack. Skidmore scored the next seven goals, starting with Phillips' 40th of the season with 3:10 left in the half.

The Thoroughbreds had a 30-16 shot, 20-10 ground ball, and 11-7 draw advantage.

Megan Kolopsky had an outstanding game in net, allowing only three goals, while racking nine saves over 56:23. Samantha Gladd had eight saves for Clarkson.
