SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College baseball team pounded out 16 hits in a 14-6 non-league win over Plattsburgh State Wednesday at Castle Diamond.

The Thoroughbreds improve to 7-14, while the Cardinals fall to 3-22. Skidmore travels to MCLA on Thursday before returning home for a four-game set with St. Lawrence on Saturday and Sunday.

Mike LaVita blasted a three-run home run to key a six run third inning for the Thoroughbreds.
Nick Fronte had a sac fly and
Josh Brown a two-run double to account for the other three runs.

The offense kept going after that with three more in the fourth, two in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

LaVita finished 2-3 with two runs and four RBI, while Brown was 2-5 with two runs and two RBI. Eric Damphouse went 3-3 with an RBI and two runs and
Shawn Klier was 3-5 with a run and an RBI.

The Thoroughbreds used a prearranged pitching order with starter
Ben Murphy (1-0) getting the win. He allowed two unearned runs in four innings on four hits.
