Skidmore drops close pair at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--- Two walk-off victories helped the Springfield College softball program pick up a pair of wins over Skidmore College on Tuesday afternoon.  The Thoroughbreds lost the first game 3-2 and the second 7-6.

Skidmore is 9-15 and will host Williams College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Springfield is 15-9.

Springfield 3, Skidmore 2 -- Game One

Skidmore scored in the first when Karly Fishkin singled and later scored on an illegal pitch. Springfield tied it with an unearned run in the third. The Thoroughbreds went up 2-1 in the fourth when Lauren Fortunato singled, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Jill Strileckis.

The Pride tied it on a home run in the sixth and won it on a two-out single in the seventh.

Casey Attonito was 2-3.  Amanda Carilli took the loss as she pitched 6.2 innings, giving up eight hits and three runs (two earned).

Springfield 7, Skidmore 6 -- Game Two

Skidmore battled back from a 6-2 deficit to tie it with four runs in the top of the seventh.  Kristina Foley had a clutch bases loaded triple and scored on an Attonito single.

Springfield scored an unearned run in the seventh to pull out the win.

Cassie Fishkin was 2-4 with two RBI and Karley Fishkin, Fortunato,and Foley each had two hits. Attonito took the loss, allowing  seven runs (three earned).
