CANTON, N.Y. – Despite the late goal by Skidmore College women's soccer senior forward
Emily Saliterman, the Thoroughbreds could not complete the comeback, falling to St. Lawrence 4-3 in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds fall to 3-5-1 on the season, and 0-4-1 in conference play. The Saints stop a two-game slide, improving to 2-2 in league play, and 7-3-2 overall.

Emily Mendes scored goals for the Thoroughbreds. Mendes also assisted on Saliterman's goal in the 88th minute.
Alyssa Rollins made three saves in net.
Kaleigh White scored two goals and added an assist to lead the hosts. Katie Stames scored one and assisted on another, and Lindsay Geier finished the scoring for St. Lawrence on an Emily Wade assist. Samantha Allen recorded six saves to earn the victory.
St. Lawrence jumped out to the early advantage in the 15th minute. Geier collected the ball at midfield and hit White with a through ball 20 yards from goal. She split the defense, moved into the box alone finished to pull ahead.
The Thoroughbreds pulled even at 1-1 in the 31st minute with Huber's goal after she won possession from the Saints' defense on a short goal kick and fired a shot from 20 yards out into the middle of the net, finishing inside the far post.
But just before the half Geier regained the lead for St. Lawrence, converting a free kick from just outside the box in the 42
nd minute. Wade rolled the ball forward on the step over and Geier hit a low shot through traffic that snuck into the far lower 90.
Just after the half, Stames gave the Saints the two-goal advantage, taking a pass from White in the middle of the field 25 yards from goal, finishing wide near the post.
Undeterred, Skidmore came right back. Off a Skidmore free kick, the ball slipped through the Saints goalkeeper's body on a save, allowing the ever alert Mendes to deposit the rebound,
White scored what eventually would be the game-winner in the 88th minute. Saliterman scored to pull the Thoroughbreds once again to within one, but time ran out on the comeback.
Skidmore outshot the Saints 20-16 overall and held a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal in the comeback attempt.
The Thoroughbreds will hit the road for a midweek non-league matchup, facing Oneonta at 4 p.m.
