Skidmore falls to Nichols, 4-2

HARRISVILLE, R.I.—The Skidmore College hockey team opened the season with a 4-2 nonconference road loss against Nichols College, Saturday night.
 
The Thoroughbreds (0-1) gave up an early shorthanded goal before freshman Sam Loizeaux scored his first collegiate goal from classmate Tim Allen at 17:58 of the first.
 
Nichols went back in front at with a power-play goal at 4:21 of the second. Skidmore tied it with a power-play goal by rookie Owen Campbell at 14:06 from Marc Cibelli. 
 
The Bison went in front for good at 16:46 and added an empty net goal at 18:53 for the 4-2 final.
 
Jack McDonald had 32 saves in goal for the Thoroughbreds.
 
Skidmore opens NEHC play at home Friday at 7 p.m. against New England College. It will be the annual Pack the Rink night at the rink with free t-shirts to the first 200 fans who donate a canned good. Admission is free and there will be additional prizes and promotions throughout the game.
