The loss leaves the Thoroughbreds at 4-13-3 overall and 4-7-2 in the NEHC. The Purple Knights move to 6-14 and 5-13.

Skidmore didn't have an answer for St. Michael's goalie Chris Johnson. The freshman backstop had a workman like performance with 36 saves, including 16 in the third period.

St. Michael's found the net early when Sam D'Antuono scored in traffic at 3:55 from Nic Hermary.Â
Anthony Bird evened it off a rebound from
Adam Moodie and
Connor Van Arnam at 14:39. It was the team-high 10
th of the season for Bird.

Neither team scored in the second. The Purple Knights came close in the final minute, but Thoroughbred goalie
Jack McDonald made a pad save on Connor Mitchell breakaway with 31 seconds left to leave it 1-1 after two.

Skidmore carried the play in the third, until Kevin Altidor took advantage of a Thoroughbred neutral zone turnover to score his ninth of the season from Shawn Morrow at 12:31. St. Michael's quickly made it 3-1 when D'Antuono tallied his second of the night at 13:14 from Mitchell.

Skidmore didn't go quietly, pulling McDonald at 14:20 for the extra attacker. The result was a barrage of shots over the final five minutes, but Johnson handled everything thrown at him for his fifth win of the season.

The Thoroughbreds had a 36-21 shot advantage. Skidmore was 0-5 on the power play, while St. Michael's was 0-3.

Both teams return to action on Saturday. Skidmore will host #14 Norwich at 4 p.m., while the Purple Knights travel to Castleton University for 4 p.m. contest.
