SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College volleyball team heads to SUNY Brockport this weekend for the Brockport Invitational.

The Thoroughbreds opened the 2015 season with a 3-1 win over MCLA. After dropping the first set, Skidmore took the next two sets and came from behind in the fourth to secure the victory. The team received major contributions from its rookies, as
Allie Dillon had a team-high 29 digs, setter
Sam Abrams added 24 assists and two aces and
Caitlyn Sprinkle contributed a team-high 13 kills. Junior Marcela Familiar-Bolaños recorded a team-best 28 digs.

SCOUTING GORDONGordon cruised to a 3-0 win against Suffolk in it season opener. Freshman Renee Cooprider registered 32 assists and four assists in her collegiate debut. The Fighting Scots went 14-14 in 2014.

SCOUTING ITHACAIthaca swept Cazenovia, 25-12, 25-15, 25-13 in its season opener. Sophomore Joelle Goldstein had a team-high 11 kills, while sophomore Kayla Gromen had 23 assists. The Bombers recorded 11 aces in the victory. Ithaca posted an overall record of 25-11 in 2014, en route to the ECAC Metro/Upstate Championship.

SCOUTING BROCKPORTBrockport defeated Div. II Robert Wesleyan, 3-0, in its first match of 2015. Senior Kayla Barber had a team-high 10 kills, while Noelle Poloncarz led the squad with 18 assists. The Golden Eagles went 22-12 overall in 2015, advancing to the SUNYAC Semifinals before falling to New Paltz.

SCOUTING HOUGHTONHoughton split its opening two matches of the season. The Highlanders lost 3-0 to Clarkson before rallying for a 3-2 come-from-behind win against Cortland. Senior Hattie Burgher had a team-high 11 kills against Cortland, while Meagan Palm and Naomi Prentince had 10 kills each. Sophomore setter Anna Coryell registered a team-best 35 assists and three aces in the win. Houghton was 17-17 overall and 5-3 in conference play in 2014.
