Women's soccer downs MCLA, 1-0

North Adams, Mass.—Skidmore College women's soccer junior midfielder Emily Saliterman's penalty kick goal lifted the Thoroughbreds to a 1-0 non-confernece win against MCLA, Friday evening at Shewcraft field.

Skidmore improves to 1-1 on the season, while the Traiblazers also go to 1-1.

The Thoroughbreds dominated play from start to finish, outshooting MCLA 28-3

After 32 scorless minutes, Skidmore broke the deadlock as Saliterman converted on a penalty for her second goal in as many games.

After the Trailblazers were whistled for a foul in the box, Saliterman stepped up and drilled a strike into the upper right corner to give the visitors the 1-0 lead. The Thoroughbreds continued to press, owning a 16-1 edge in shots in the half, but could not extend their lead.

Skidmore continued to control play in the second half, holding the Trailblazers to two shots, securing the 1-0 win. Saliterman, Arena Manning and Shelby Hanlon led the Skidmore offensive attack combining for 14 shots. Deirdre Walsh recorded one save, earning the shutout in goal for the Thoroughbreds.

Skidmore is off till Sept. 12th when it hosts New Paltz in its home opener.
