DeGregory notches 200th career point with record-setting performance

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Senior forward Dani DeGregory crossed the 200-career point mark with a record-setting performance, leading the 11th-ranked Skidmore College field hockey team to a 10-1 win over Stockton, Friday evening at Wagner Park.

DeGregory, who surpassed Christine Kemp '11 for second on Skidmore's all-time scoring list, produced 11 points on five goals and an assist, setting the program record for points in a game and tying the program-high for goals in a game. She currently ranks second on Skidmore's all-time scoring list with 204 points (81 G, 42 A) and is the NCAA Division III active leader in career goals, points and assists.

DeGregory put the Thoroughbreds (4-2) in front 5:52 into the game, dribbling in from a restart and sliding home a one-handed shot. She doubled the Skidmore advantage just under two minutes later with another individual effort from a counterattack following an Ospreys (1-5) penalty corner.

Stockton battled back, cutting its deficit in half in the 12th minute. Laura Oblrich pounced on a loose ball before slotting home a shot from 12 yards, but that's as close as the Ospreys would get.

After nine scoreless minutes, Skidmore piled on three goals in a 2:07 span to open a 5-1 lead. Leigh FitzGerald netted her first of the season, as Becca Halter worked past two defenders at the top of the circle before sliding a pass to FitzGerald on the back post for the easy finish into the empty net. Jenn Hanks extended the lead, converting from close range on a feed from Grace Florsheim, and DeGregory completed her hat trick to cap the scoring spurt.

It was more of the same to open the second half, as the Thoroughbreds blew the game open with three goals in the opening 4:39 of the frame.

DeGregory hit the 200-point mark with an assist on Florsheim's first collegiate goal just 19 seconds into the stanza. Shannon Sebor potted her first of the campaign in the 38th minute, batting a rebound out of the air and DeGregory notched her fourth at 39:58 to put the game out of reach at 8-1.

DeGregory registered her 11th point of the game with a goal in the 56th minute and Krista Lamoreaux produced the game's final goal in the 62nd minute.

Skidmore outshot Stockton and held a 7-2 edge in penalty corners. Freshman Elizabeth Coughlin earned the win in goal for the Thoroughbreds in her first collegiate start. Ospreys goalkeeper Emily Sorochynskj made eight saves in the first 50:16, while Courtney Birdsall stopped one shot over the final 19:44.

The Thoroughbreds host Utica at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 27.
