Volleyball prepares to host Skidmore Classic

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team returns to its home court this weekend for three non-conference matches at the Skidmore Classic.
 
The Thoroughbreds went 1-3 to open their Liberty League schedule, winning their first league match of the season against Bard, 3-0.
 
Freshman outside hitter Caite Canfield notched her third double-double of the season against St. Lawrence with 10 kills and 12 digs to go along with two aces. She leads the team in kills per set (2.31) and points per set (2.76).
 
Marcela Familiar-Bolanños has been a top defensive performer for the team and currently leads the league with 5.18 digs per set, while freshman Allie Dillon ranks fifth with 3.67 digs per set.
 
SCOUTING RAMAPO
Ramapo blanked New Jersey City University 3-0 on Tuesday to improve to 6-3. The Roadrunners, who take on William Paterson on Thursday, surrendered just 29 total points in the three sets.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Larysa Iwaskiw was named the NJAC Player of the Week last week after averaging 5.62 kills per set in five matches. She leads the conference in kills per set (5.41) and ranks second in service aces per set (0.78) and seventh in digs per set (3.78). Kaitlin Mac Iver has quarterbacked the offense, leading the team with 8.38 assists per set, placing her second in the conference.
 
Ramapo leads the NJAC in assists per set (11.86), while its .200 hitting percentage, 12.55 kills per set, 3.07 services aces per set and.091 opponent hitting percentage all rank second in the league. The Roadrunners are also averaging 17.24 digs per set.
 
 
SCOUTING COLBY-SAWYER
Colby-Sawyer dropped back-to-back matches over the weekend with losses coming against Cortland and Middelbury, extending its losing streak to five matches.
 
The Chargers have dropped 11 of 14 second sets and are 0-4 in five-set matches this season. Senior outside hitter Kelsey McCulley leads the team with 2.64 kills per set and 13 service aces. Senior setter Laura Smolinski is averaging a team-high 7.24 assists per set, placing her second in the North Atlantic Conference. Sophomore Lexi Strong has notched a league-best 226 digs and she ranks second with 4.61 digs per set.
 
 
SCOUTING HAMILTON
Hamilton was topped 3-0 by Bowdoin on Saturday. The Continentals are 0-6 since opening their season with a 3-1 win against Morrisville State.
 
Jessica Weston has made major contributions on both sides of the ball, leading the team in kills per set (1.96) and blocks per set (0.52). Claire Kitz is tied for the team-high in blocks per set and leads the team with 10 service aces. Jamie Granskie leads the team with 4.59 digs per set.
