SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— Playing for the first time in 11 days, the Skidmore College baseball team lost to Mass College of the Liberal Arts 4-3 in 11 innings, Thursday evening at Castle Diamond.

The Thoroughbreds fall to 4-7, while the Trailblazers are 7-4.

Nick Petrella tossed eight strong innings in the no-decision. He allowed two unearned runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts.Â
Jeb Clarke had a solid day at the plate, going 3-5 with two RBI and two doubles. He also had nine assists at shortstop.

The Thoroughbreds scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead that held until the eighth inning. Clarke had an RBI double to key the inning.

In the MCLA half of the eighth, Mike Sullivan opened the inning with a single and then moved to third when Skidmore mishandled Chris Preite's bunt. Rory Slattery platted Sullivan with an RBI single and Nate Alibozek drove in Preite to tie the game.

The Thoroughbreds went back in front in the bottom of the eighth.
Mat Marino singled and later scored on an RBI single by Clarke.

The Trailblazers forced extra innings with a run in the ninth. Mike Mancivalano led off with a walk, moved to second on a mishandled bunt and eventually beat a throw to the plate on a fielder's choice.

MCLA got the game winner in the 11th on Preite's two-out single that plated
Justin Willig.

Joe Warner took the loss in relief. Alibozek got the win with three innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits. Liam Nolan worked out of trouble in the 11th  to earn his first save of the season.

Skidmore will host NYU in a pair on Friday, starting at 2:30 p.m.
