BOSTON, Mass.—The UMASS Boston hockey team broke open a 2-1 game with four second period goals in an 11-1 win over Skidmore College in an ECAC East Quarterfinal, Saturday night.
 
The second seed Beacons are ranked sixth nationally with a 22-3-1 record. The seventh seed Thoroughbreds end their season at 4-19-3.
 
Skidmore was only down 2-1 after the first period after Kenny Nelson scored his second goal of the season from Andreas Michailidis.
 
UMB would outscore the Thoroughbreds 9-0 over the final two periods for the 11-1 final.
 
The Beacons went 4-10 on the power play and outshot Skidmore 56-24.  Jack McDonald had 37 saves over 45:01 and Ben Freiberg had eight saves over the final 14:59 for the Thoroughbreds.
