Box ScoreHenniker, N.H. – New England College men's ice hockey would net three first period goals lifting the Pilgrims past the visiting Skidmore College Thoroughbreds 4-1 Friday evening in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.
The win in the first of the season for the Pilgrims who improve to 1-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the NEHC. Â The loss drops the Thoroughbreds to 0-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in NEHC action.
SCORING First Period: The Pilgrims would waste no time getting on the board as Bryce Nielson would score just 32 seconds into the game. Skidmore would come through with the equalizer just three minutes later as
Connor Pelkey would convert on a power-play redirecting in a shot by
Marc Cibelli. Â NEC would get two more first period goals, including a goal byÂ
Chris Santello at the 15:11 mark and then a power-play score by
Shawn Watson just under two minutes later. Â
Second Period: Â The Pilgrims would score the lone tally of the second period as
Kyle Manlow would redirected a shot by
Bryce Nielsen at the 3:59 mark.

Jack McDonald would record 30 saves for the Thoroughbreds.
New England College's Brett Kilar notched 23 saves in the win.
