Live StatsSARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College ice hockey team opens conference play this weekend with road games against New England College and Saint Anselm.
SUNY Canton topped the Thoroughbreds, 5-2, in the season opener for both teams last Friday.
Andreas Michailidis and
Anthony Bird each tallied and
Marc Cibelli,
Kenny Nelson and
Max Hegge and produced assists.

SCOUTING NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE
New England fell to Fitchburg State, 3-2, in its season opener on Tuesday. After falling behind 3-0 in the first two periods, the Pilgrims rallied for two third-period goals but they could not complete the comeback.

- New England College was 9-12-5 overall last season and 6-9-3 in conference play.

- The Pilgrims return ECAC East Second Team All-Conference selection and their leading scorer from a year ago, Cheyne Matheson. Matheson compiled 14 goals and 14 assists in 2014-2015.

- Also returning is Chris Santello, who ranked second on the team with 11 goals last season.

- Junior netminder Brett Kilar appeared in 10 games last season posting a .921 save percentage and a 2.35 goals against average.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
Saint Anselm opens its season Friday against Castleton. The Hawks were 11-13-3 last season and 7-9-2 in league contests.

- The Hawks graduated for of their six top scorers from last season but return senior forward Bryan Sullivan, who ranked second in goals and assists and was tied for second with 20 points.

- Saint Anselm returns Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team goalie Shane Joyce between the pipes. Joyce compiled a 2.79 goals against average with a .896 save percentage, playing just under 1400 minutes in his freshman season.
