SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team battled back from two sets down to beat SUNY Potsdam 3-2 (22-25, 21-25, 25-18, 26-24, 15-10) in opening match of the Skidmore Invitational, Friday night at the Williamson Center.

It was the first five-set win of the season for the 9-22 Thoroughbreds. Potsdam is 6-23. Tournament play continues on Saturday. Skidmore will play Geneseo at 11 a.m. and then close out the season at 3 p.m. against New Paltz.

Caite Canfield had a big night for Skidmore with 21 kills and 19 digs to go along with three aces.
Bailey Hutchins had a double/double of her own with 33 assists and 15 digs. Marcela Familiar had a team-high 31 digs, while
Allie Dillon had 20 digs, four aces, and eight kills.
Clara Jones chipped in 11 kills and two blocks.

In the other matches: New Paltz beat Hartwick 3-1 (25-21, 25-11, 22-25, 25-10) and Union downed Geneso 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 27-25).
