GENEVA, N.Y.—The No. 6 William Smith soccer team won its sixth straight match with a 3-0 win over visiting Skidmore in a Liberty League match played on Cozzens Field.
The Herons improved their record to 7-1-1 overall and 3-0-0 in Liberty League play. The Thoroughbreds fall to 4-5-0 this year and 2-2-0 in conference play.
In the 29th minute Evie Manning scored what proved to be the game-winning goal. In the 51st minute, Lauren Randaccio made it 2-0. Krista Longo registered the final goal of the game in the 72nd minute.
The Thoroughbreds best scoring chance of the game came about three minutes into the second half. The Herons were whistled for a foul deep in the box.
Emily Saliterman played the kick and the ball came to
Shelby Hanlon who got off a shot that was immediately blocked and cleared out by the William Smith defense.
Deirdre Walsh started in goal for Skidmore and made eight saves in 66:10.
Alyssa Rollins came in for the final 23:50 and made three saves.
The Herons finished with a 29-3 advantage in shots and a 7-0 lead in corners.
Skidmore is back in action at home on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. against Bard.
