Dani DeGregory scored her third hat trick in four games and added an assist and freshman forward
Gabby Hyman tallied twice to lead the 11th-ranked Skidmore College field hockey team to a 6-0 Liberty League in at Union College Saturday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds improved to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in league play while the Dutchwomen are now 5-4 and 0-2 in the league.
DeGregory, who extended her point streak to four games, has 27 points (11 G, 5A) in the last four contests. Freshman
Grace Florsheim also scored for the Thoroughbreds, while
Becca Halter dished out two assists. Skidmore outshot Union 37-5 and also had a 16-1 corner advantage. Freshman goalkeeper
Elizabeth Coughlin made three saves for the Thoroughbreds, while Laura Aptowitz made 16 stops in the Union net.
Florsheim's second of the season opened the scoring just 1:32 into the game with a tip in from a Hanks assist, and Skidmore made it 2-0 at 6:07 on DeGregory's shot in from the right post with an assist from
Seeley Fancher.
DeGregory's 13th of the year and second of the day at 16:11 was a rebound of her own shot for a 3-0 lead. Hyman made it 4-0 with an assist from DeGregory as she redirected a shot from 10 yards out at 20:20.
Hyman's second of the game and eighth of the year at 44:07 came from five yards out off an assist from Halter. Halter picked up her second helper of the day on the team's final goal, setting up DeGregory's 14th tally of the season at 65:16.
Skidmore goes on the road to face Williams at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.
