Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

St. Lawrence slips past women's soccer, 2-1

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Kaleigh White's scored her league-leading 12th goal in the 74th minute to lift St. Lawrence to a 2-1 conference win against the Skidmore College women's soccer team, Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.

The Thoroughbreds go to 5-8-1 overall and 3-3-1 in Liberty League play, while the Saints improve to 10-3-2 and 3-3-1.

Skidmore got out to a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute on Emily Saliterman's team-leading sixth tally of the season. Saliterman collected a loose ball at the top of the Saints 18-yard box and drove in on goal. St. Lawrence goalkeeper Kelsey West was quick off her line, but Saliterman eluded her with a sharp touch before tucking home a shot from a tight angle.

The lead was short-lived however, as the Saints answered 2:44 later. Caroline Crandall delivered a dangerous corner kick that found its way to the back post. Rachel Muskin pounced on the loose ball and sent a pass across the goalmouth, picking out Amanda Hamilton for the easiest of finishes into the empty net to send the game to halftime at 1-1.

St. Lawrence threatened early in the second half, forcing Skidmore goalkeeper Deirdre Walsh into three saves in the first 15 minutes of the frame.

The Saints continued to press forward and they were rewarded in the 74th minute. Katie Stames carried the ball down the right flank, drove toward the endline and cut a pass back to White at the top of the 18. White took a touch to control the pass before curling a strike inside the left post, giving St. Lawrence the 2-1 lead.

The Thoroughbreds mounted an attack in the game's final minute, earning a free kick at the top of the Saints penalty area, but Nicole LoRusso's effort from 25-yards sailed over the crossbar, allowing St. Lawrence to kill the remaining seconds for the 2-1 win.

St. Lawrence outshot Skidmore 14-13 and had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Walsh finished with eight saves, while West stopped four shots for her 10th win.

Before the game Skidmore honored the six members of its senior class: Erin Barry, Megan Caccavale, Wray Gabel, Allaire Langdon, Shelby Hanlon and Arena Manning.

The Thoroughbreds, who currently sit third in the Liberty League standings, close out conference play Tuesday, Oct. 27 at RPI.
