Men's basketball looks to keep rolling against a pair of conference foes

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Skidmore College men's basketball team is back in action this weekend, facing Liberty League opponents Bard and RPI.

SCOUTING THE THOROUGHBREDS (5-5, 2-0 Liberty League): Skidmore opened Liberty League play with back-to-back home wins, knocking off RIT and Vassar…Freshman guard Martin Bedulskij scored a game-high 19 points against RIT in his first collegiate start…Sophomore guard Royce Paris and junior guard Isaac Carp chipped in with 16 points and 12 points off the bench, respectively…Carp went 4 for 4 from 3-point range against RIT and hit 3 of 5 3-pointers against Vassar…Junior guard Aldin Medunjanin tallied 23 of his game-high 25 points in the second half of the team's 69-64 win over Vassar on Saturday, shooting 7 of 9 from the field and 7 of 9 from the line in the stanza.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: The Thoroughbreds are averaging 71.9 points per game, ranking second in the conference…Skidmore is 4-2 at home this season…The Thoroughbreds are third in the league in defensive rebounds per game (28.0)…Skidmore leads the league in blocked shots per game (5.0)…The Thoroughbreds are 5-1 when making six or more 3-pointers and 4-1 when outrebounding their opponent.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Medunjanin is second in the Liberty League in steals per game (2.2.), fourth in scoring (15.1 ppg) and fifth in assists per game (3.9) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6)…Connor Merrill is seventh in the conference in scoring (14.5 ppg), but has been held to fewer than 10 points in the last two games after scoring in double figures in the first eight games…He is eight points shy of the 1,000 career point mark.
 

 
SCOUTING THE RAPTORS (6-4, 1-0 Liberty League): Bard notched its first Liberty League win since 2013 in its first conference contest of the season, stunning Vassar 61-54…Sophmore guard Alex Fabean-Scotch scored a team-high 16 points in the win…The Raptors are off to their best start since joining the Liberty League and their six wins already marks the most wins in a season since the 2007-2008 campaign.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: Bard is 2-2 on the road…The Raptors lead the league in scoring defense, limiting their opponents to 59.1 points per game, and rank second in scoring margin (5.6)…Bard has held its opponents to 38.5% shooting, including a league-best 30.4% from beyond the arc…The Raptors are atop the conference in offensive rebounds per game (13.1) and rebounding margin (5.2)…
