Skidmore falls to Nichols, 7-3

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Nichols College scored four power play goals on the way to a 7-3 win over Skidmore College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Levy Rink.

The Thoroughbreds are 2-10-1, while the Bison improve to 8-2-2.

The Thoroughbreds (2-10-1) opened the scoring just 44 seconds into the contest when sophomore Marc Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.) was awarded a penalty shot and scored sixth of the season. Less than three minutes later, Skidmore doubled its lead when junior Ondrej Krajnak (Presov, Solvakia) put home his second of the season of a feed from sophomore Anthony Bird (Central Square, N.Y.).

Nichols scored the next six goals to put the game away.

Skidmore capitalized on a 5-on-3 for its third goal when freshman Connor Pelkey (St. Albans, Vt.) connected on a snap shot over the blocker at 15:40 to make it 6-3. Krajnak was credited with the lone assist.

The Thoroughbreds outshot the Bison 47-44 and saw Jack McDonald finish the evening with 37 saves. Nichols was 4-for-7 with the man advantage while the Thoroughbreds were 1-for-4.

Skidmore hosts Plattsburgh State Friday at 7 p.m.
