Box Score 3 ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team battled to a dramatic 3-2 (22-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 16-14) over SUNY Oswego in the final match of the University of Rochester Tournament, Saturday afternoon.
It was a rewarding win for the Thoroughbreds who dropped matches to Elmira and Penn State Behrend to open the tournament.
Skidmore (2-4) lost to Elmira 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-22) in the first match.
Aria Goodman had 11 kills and 12 digs to lead the Thoroughbreds.
Kalle Fox added 20 assists and two aces, while Marcela Familiar had a team-high 24 digs.
The Thoroughbreds dropped a close 3-1 (25-21, 25-15, 20-25, 25-14) match to Penn State Behrend. Goodman had another 11 kills and 21 digs. Fox kept busy with 28 assists and 17 digs, while Familiar was tough on defense with 37 digs.
Down 2-0 to Oswego, Skidmore never quit and battled back for the 3-2 win. Â
Brittany Osborn had 18 kills, a .459 hitting percentage, and six aces.  Goodman rang up another double/double with 14 kills and 16 digs to go along with five aces. Fox contributed 49 assists and 10 digs, while Familiar was steady again with 33 digs.
Skidmore will play in the Union Invitational Sept. 12-13.
